Hennen’s American Public Library Ratings (HAPLR) 2.0

Hennen’s American Public Library Ratings (HAPLR) are no longer published.  HAPLR 1.0 used data provided by 9,000 public libraries in the United States to create comparative rankings.  Thousands of libraries ordered reports on their libraries from 1999 to 2010. Previous editions of Version 1.0 are available at the Wayback Machine.  Simply type the following into the search box: haplr-index.com.  

We have not stopped providing library research.  Since 2010 we have been working with library data as consultants to libraries on a case-by-case basis.  HAPLR 2.0 provides customized reports for libraries and groups of libraries.  The consulting emphasizes graphic visualizations of library data that allows libraries to compare their performance to peers

Campbell County Library in Kentucky

Campbell County Library’s HAPLR 2.0 Metric Study

Campbell County Library System asked Hennen Library Consulting to prepare three reports that evaluated how Campbell County Library compares to similar libraries throughout the country.  The research included three phases and three separate reports published in April, May, and June of 2019.

Porter County Public Library in Indiana

The Porter County Library Study provides perspective for evaluating how the Porter County Library System in Indiana compares to similar libraries throughout the country.  This report was compiled in November of 2017.  We were specifically looking for libraries that have numbers that appear better than Porter County Library’s.  The goal was to find libraries that may have lessons from which library planners can learn.   It is very likely that any or all of these libraries will have advice to give and stories to tell to Porter County Public Library’s planners.
